GTA 6 Edition Buying Guide: Standard vs Ultimate

  1. Decide if the Ultimate extras matter to you: The $20 upgrade buys exclusive vehicles (1995 Grotti Cheetah, '67 Dominator Buggy, Enduro bike, Squalo boat, kayak), custom weapons (Girardi ES9, Klose K17, Morgan Revolvers), two style packs, exclusive shop access, and two side missions. No story chapters are locked behind it.
  2. Pick digital or physical — knowing there's no disc: Physical boxes contain a download code, not a disc. If you want the box on a shelf, physical Standard is the only boxed option (Ultimate is digital-only). Physical arrives November 12.
  3. Pre-order before November 20 for the bonus pack: All pre-orders and purchases before November 20, 2026 include the Vintage Vice City Pack. Digital pre-orders also get one free month of GTA+.
  4. Buy from a store you trust: PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Rockstar Store, or major retailers. Best Buy currently gives members a $50 gift card when bundling with an eligible console.
  5. Clear drive space before November 12: Rockstar hasn't announced a file size, but estimates run 120–200GB. Preload opens November 12 — have the space ready.

Pre-orders are open, and the choice comes down to one question: is $20 worth a garage of exclusive toys?

Get Standard ($79.99) if you want the full game — every mission, the whole map, both protagonists. Nothing story-critical is Ultimate-exclusive. It’s also the only edition with a physical (code-in-box) option.

Get Ultimate ($99.99) if the exclusive vehicle collection, custom weapons, shop access, and the two bonus mission lines (including Wyman’s Classic Car Collection Commission) sound like day-one fun — and you’re all-digital anyway.

Avoid these traps: don’t buy a “disc version” from a reseller (there is no disc — every box is a code), and be suspicious of any “Collector’s Edition” listing (none exists).
